Boca Chica waters are beautiful but be very careful, there are many prostitutes and many people trying to see you things. Not a kid friendly area at all. It is a nice beach if you consider it is a city beach, nice water. Nice restaurants. Boca Chica is the closest beach to the city of Santo Domingo. It is a popular beach, some excellent restaurants and lodges. It's loud here and people constantly trying to sell you crap or massage you is super annoying.
Food and drinks are great. If you like hookah, they will put a table right in the water so you can drink or smoke. Jetskis, banana boats, pics with monkies and parrots, but no waves. We had a very good English speaking guide and he took us to the beach at Boca Chica.. The food on the beach was great and he did not allow the peddlers to bother us. You just have to be careful of you r surroundings. This is a bustling little tourist town. It has lots of peddlers and homeless people. There is trash everywhere.
