These automated processes provide efficiency, accessibility, and convenience where manual processes cannot.
As students of Arizona State University, we are constantly interacting with these processes through our online classes, Black Board systems, and mobile apps. Since its start in , the Safety Escort Service has provided students with a free mode of evening transportation in and around the campus area.
Students may choose from a variety of pick-up and drop-off locations, including Mill Avenue, to ensure a safe return to their dorms, cars, or group of friends. Over the past 5 years, the service has grown rapidly due to its extreme popularity amongst students. However, the process has yet to be updated to meet the current number of users. Instead of updating their technology and process, Safety Escort Services have increased their staff and budget to meet the current demand of needed rides.
Currently, this lack of technology and an automated process is inhibiting the service from reaching its full potential and allowing University money to be spent irresponsibly. Our business group aims to eliminate these problems with the creation of The Safety Escort App.
The Safety Escort App would allow students to reserve a ride effortlessly and easily locate pick- up locations. We believe by creating this mobile app, Safety Escort Services will be able to reach a larger amount of students and largely reduce budget costs.
