Contact Admin. I will be traveling to Zacatecas , Calera and eventually to Fresnillo by bus from Laredo sometime in mid April -The last time I did a similar trip was in I would appreciate some advice on safety in general, for example transportation, safety of bus terminals, hotels in Fresnillo and Zacatecas.
I would prefer advice from someone or people native to those places. By the way I was born in Fresnillo and have not been able to travel before due to travel advisory notices about lack of adequate safety around those cities by the news media and government notices.
I lived in Zacatecas to approx, working in media and TV, spent alot of time in Jerez, airport is in Calera, v nice small airport. A colleague of mine is from Fresnillo and commutes every day to Zacatecas city. Even during the "bad times", there was no trouble to speak of in Zacatecas City or Jerez, for anybody from the US or even there the blanket state travel advisories were a bit of a nasty joke on the part of the US govt, cartel activity is way up in the mountains by Durango 4 hours away, its remote.
Fresnillo has always been rougher, its a mining town. Too bad a flight would be lots more comfy but from where you are its tough to figure out. I think they run from like 6 am to 10 pm, commuter buses really. Calera you need taxi or uber.
