The woman said businessman Douglas Irvine, 65, had arranged for her to go to the home of former advocate Alan Muir. And she claimed Irvine, known as Timmy, then arranged for her to go to a "posh flat" in Blackfriars Mews, Perth, and have sex with Muir, Asked by John Malpass, prosecuting, what the purpose of her trip to the flat was, she replied: "For getting money for having sex.
Asked what Irvine had done to set up the meetings, she said: "He just gave me the address to go to Mr Muir's. The vice girl's liaisons with Muir were brought into evidence in Irvine's trial on vice charges. But the trial was later halted when the Crown decided to present no further evidence after a legal technicality came to light during the trial. Irvine, of Perth, had denied seven charges alleging he ran a prostitution ring based in the town for several years.
The pensioner denied assaulting one teenage girl with a vibrator and procuring four women to act as prostitutes, as well as charges of resetting stolen goods. The case collapsed when it emerged that one of the witnesses had a previous conviction for prostitution from Aberdeen several years ago. The Crown accepted that legally a convicted prostitute could not then be "procured" for prostitution by someone else.
He added: "I was asked if I wanted a pseudonym with the article but I insisted my own name was on it. I do not think I've done anything wrong.
